CGS Young Professionals Conference 2022
CGS Young Professionals Conference (previously known as the cYGEGC) is a conference for young professionals in geotechnical engineering and geosciences to network, learn, and present technical material to an audience of peers. In doing so, the intent is for the delegates to come out of the experience with more confidence and connections prior to attending the national conference, or other similar large-scale conferences.
This conference is the 7th iteration and the conference theme is Risky Business.
Our conference is followed by the GeoCalgary 2022 Conference, October 2-5 in Calgary, AB.
Banff and Lake Louise has a rich heritage as one of the world's awe-inspiring mountain destinations. With easy access to pristine wilderness, endless outdoor adventures, and all the amenities you need, in Banff National Park you feel truly immersed in nature.
The conference will be hosted at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada's leading arts and cultural organization based in the Canadian Rockies.

We acknowledge, with deep respect and gratitude, our home on the side of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain, in the beautiful and special territory of Treaty 7. We recognize the past, present, and future generations of Stoney Nakoda, Blackfoot, Tsuut’ina Nations, and Métis from Region 3, who help us steward this land, as well as honour and celebrate this place.
Theme: "Risky Business"
Geoscientists and geotechnical engineers work with materials that are heterogeneous, complex and have a high level of spatial variability across project areas. As societies grow and evolve, so do the consequences of failure. How do we manage uncertainty as young professionals in a changing environment?
